The Taranaki Regional Council agree to set up a trapping network (infrastructure) for control of harmful animal pest species primarily (mustelids - ferrets, stoats and weasels) in a manner and to a level that protects the indigenous biodiversity values within the Taranaki region.


I, the landowner/occupier agree

  • to have traps set up on my property for the purpose of mustelid control at a subsidised cost of
  • $35 per unit including GST. Total cost not to exceed $500.00 per property.
  • servicing permanent mustelid traps a minimum of eight times per calendar year and record trap
  • catch information in the TrapNZ database; AND
  • servicing any activated ‘remote sensor mustelid trap’ within 30 days of activation.

For effective and ongoing pest control this may include

  • undertaking work yourself
  • being involved in a community scheme approach
  • employing a contractor to carry out maintenance control at my own expense
